Mountain

The Mountain card from the Magic 2014 core set, featuring the artwork of artist Noah Bradley, was released in July 2013 as part of Wizards of the Coast's annual refresh of the Magic: The Gathering base game. This particular iteration of the basic land was designed to evoke a sense of sweeping scale and natural majesty, fitting the set's high-fantasy aesthetic. It was widely distributed in booster packs and intro decks, becoming a ubiquitous staple for players building red-aligned decks during the 2013-2014 Standard rotation.

Noah Bradley, a prominent illustrator in the fantasy gaming community during this period, aimed for a distinct atmospheric lighting style that contrasted the jagged, imposing peaks of the landscape with a vibrant, glowing horizon. The piece was well-received by the player base for its painterly quality and emotional resonance, often cited as a standout design among the core set's basic lands. It serves as a representative example of the modern era of Magic card illustration, where digital painting techniques allowed for greater depth and environmental storytelling in even the most fundamental components of the game.
