Artist Brandon Kitkouski crafted this illustration to emphasize the distorted, eerie environment of Shadowmoor. Eschewing the traditional open landscapes often found on basic lands, the artwork focuses on the alien, jagged geography of the plane, utilizing a muted, atmospheric color palette that underscores the set's preoccupation with decay and surrealism.
