Where it came from
The Bird token, numbered 4 within the Commander Masters Tokens set released in 2023, was designed specifically to support the mechanics introduced or reprinted in the Commander Masters expansion. Wizards of the Coast includes these token cards in booster packs to represent temporary creatures or objects created during gameplay, ensuring players have physical markers for board states that would otherwise be difficult to track.
The artwork for this token adheres to the established visual identity of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, crafted by the artists commissioned for the Commander Masters release. While the token lacks the specific lore significance of a legendary creature, its design serves the functional purpose of clarity in a high-complexity format, reflecting the modern design philosophy that balances aesthetic consistency with utility for tournament and casual play.
