Where it came from
The Bird token, numbered 2 in the Starter Commander Deck set, was released by Wizards of the Coast to support the mechanics of Magic: The Gathering. These tokens were specifically crafted to represent creatures generated by cards within the preconstructed Commander decks, providing players with a convenient physical representation of temporary battlefield entities created during gameplay.
The design follows the standardized visual language established for the game's token assets, prioritizing clarity and functional iconography. It was created by the internal design team at Wizards of the Coast to ensure consistency with the broader aesthetics of the set. Upon release, these tokens were well-received by the Commander community for their utility in managing board states during often complex multiplayer matches.
