Bird

The Bird token, numbered 2 in the Modern Masters 2017 set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in March 2017. This set was designed as a curated anthology of cards from Magic: The Gathering history, intended to provide players with access to sought-after cards for the Modern format while offering a high-quality draft experience. Tokens like this one were included to facilitate gameplay for cards that generate creature tokens, ensuring that players had physical representations of these creatures during matches.

The artwork for this particular Bird token was created by Igor Kieryluk, an illustrator known for his dynamic and atmospheric work within the Magic: The Gathering franchise. In designing this token, the objective was to provide a clean, thematic visual anchor that adhered to the established aesthetic standards of the game's tokens, balancing functional clarity for the battlefield with the fantastical stylistic expectations of the Modern Masters series. It was generally well-received by the player base for its consistency and readability.
