Unlike traditional representations of wild, untamed peaks, Ravnica's landscape is defined by an infinite, dense cityscape. The set's art direction emphasized the verticality and industrial sprawl of the world, moving away from naturalistic depictions to ground the player in a setting where every square inch of terrain has been paved or built upon.

The illustration was created by artist Stephan Martiniere, who was tasked with capturing the essence of a city that functions as an entire world.
