Mountain

The Mountain card from the Planechase 2012 set was released as part of a specialized supplemental product designed to enhance the multiplayer experience of Magic: The Gathering. This specific iteration served as a fundamental resource card included within the preconstructed decks of the set, providing the necessary mana base for players navigating the chaotic plane-shifting mechanics that defined this expansion. It fits into the broader 2012 release, which focused on revisiting various worlds through the Planechase format and introducing new, powerful planar cards to the game's ecosystem.

The visual direction for this card follows the established aesthetic of the Planechase series, which emphasizes the vast and often alien landscapes of the multiverse. Like many basic lands in supplemental sets, the art was commissioned to evoke a sense of environmental immersion that complements the high-stakes narrative of the planes being explored. While basic lands are ubiquitous in the game, this specific printing is sought by collectors who specialize in card frame variations and the unique set symbols that distinguish the 2012 collection from standard core sets.
