Mountain

The 2019 MagicFest Mountain, cataloged as number 5, was released as part of a promotional cycle of basic lands distributed at MagicFest events throughout 2019. These cards were designed to serve as commemorative tokens for attendees, often awarded through participation in on-site tournaments or side events. The initiative was part of Wizards of the Coast's effort to provide unique, localized incentives for the international community of Magic: The Gathering players, fostering a sense of exclusivity tied to the physical gathering spaces of the competitive circuit.

The visual identity of this series centers on a minimalist, stylized interpretation of the game’s core land types, prioritizing clean lines and atmospheric color palettes that differ from the high-fantasy illustrations typical of standard booster sets. This design approach was intended to appeal to players seeking an understated, uniform aesthetic for their decks. Upon release, the cards were generally well-received by the player base, particularly among those who value cohesive, thematic basics that distinguish their decks from the broader pool of available land art.
