Where it came from
Reliquary Tower was originally introduced in the 2008 Magic: The Gathering set Eventide. It functions as a utility land that removes the hand-size limit for the player, a powerful mechanic for decks centered on card draw. Over time, it became a staple in the Commander format, leading to its inclusion in various reprint series and promotional drops.
This specific iteration, numbered 1536★, was released as part of a Secret Lair drop. The art was commissioned to showcase the card in a unique, stylized aesthetic consistent with the brand's pivot toward high-end, collectible artistic interpretations of classic cards. Like most Secret Lair releases, it was designed for collectors and players who appreciate alternative visual interpretations of established game mechanics.
