Reliquary Tower

Reliquary Tower was originally introduced in the Coldsnap expansion in 2006, designed to provide a mechanical solution to the problem of discarding cards due to hand size limits. As a utility land that allows a player to hold any number of cards, it quickly became a staple in the Magic: The Gathering Commander format, where card draw and hand management are central to many deck archetypes. The specific version released as a Friday Night Magic promo in 2013 was distributed to local game stores as a prize for players attending weekly tournament events.

This 2013 promotional version features unique, alternate-art illustration by Véronique Meignaud. Meignaud moved away from the utilitarian look of the original card, opting for an ethereal, painterly aesthetic that emphasizes the mystical nature of the tower as a repository of knowledge. This version is widely favored by collectors for its distinct visual identity and the prestige associated with the Friday Night Magic promotional program, which sought to reward the most dedicated players within the hobby's local retail ecosystem.
