Where it came from
Reliquary Tower is a utility land card that first appeared in the Conflux expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2009. Designed to resolve the frustration of discarding down to a seven-card hand limit, it provides players with the ability to hold an unlimited number of cards in their hand. Over time, it has become a staple of the Commander format, where the ability to maintain a large hand size is highly valued for long-term strategic advantage.
The specific version from the Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander set, numbered 312, features thematic artwork tailored to the Western-inspired setting of the plane. This reprint maintains the functional design of the original, utilizing the standard layout for non-basic lands while adopting the distinct stylistic cues of the Thunder Junction release. Like its predecessors, it is widely utilized by players seeking to leverage card draw engines effectively during multiplayer sessions.
