Plains

The Plains card numbered 498 from the Modern Horizons 3 set was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024 as part of the 'Full-Art Land' cycle for the expansion. These cards were designed to highlight the aesthetic identity of the set, which focuses on bringing powerful mechanics and nostalgic nods to the Modern format of Magic: The Gathering. The card features a distinct, minimalist full-art illustration that departs from traditional landscape compositions, emphasizing the expansive, open nature of the plains while maintaining a cohesive visual language with the rest of the land cycle.

The art for this specific land was produced as part of the specialized art treatments synonymous with the Modern Horizons series, which often employs various artists to create immersive, thematic illustrations that stand out from core set releases. As a sought-after collectible within the community, it represents the modern trend of integrating premium artistic treatments into standard expansion releases. It was received as a standard but highly valued aesthetic variant, frequently utilized by players looking to elevate the visual consistency of their decks through uniform, high-quality basic land art.
