Provenance

Where it came from

The Plains card from the Tarkir: Dragonstorm set, cataloged as number 277, belongs to the block centered on the plane of Tarkir, a world defined by the influence of dragon clans and shifting timelines. Released as part of the broader Magic: The Gathering ecosystem, this particular card features the distinct visual language of the setting, emphasizing the rugged, mountainous, and harsh terrain that characterizes the realm of the Mardu, Abzan, Jeskai, Sultai, and Temur clans.

The illustration was crafted to evoke the atmospheric scale of Tarkir's geography, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow across the landscape. The design team aimed to integrate the card seamlessly into the set's aesthetic, which relies heavily on high-fantasy motifs and militaristic iconography. Upon its release, the card was received as a standard but essential utility piece, praised by players for its thematic consistency with the block's overall narrative of ancient draconic power and evolving landscapes.
