Provenance

Where it came from

The Plains card, specifically collector number 1190, was released as part of the Secret Lair series by Wizards of the Coast. This particular drop featured a collaboration with artist Fiona Staples, known for her acclaimed work on the comic series Saga. The set was conceived to provide players with highly stylized, artist-driven interpretations of fundamental game components, moving away from traditional fantasy tropes to embrace a distinct, illustrative aesthetic.

The design of this Plains card showcases Staples' signature line work and evocative use of color, reflecting a focus on atmospheric world-building rather than standard landscape depiction. Upon its release, the card was received as a notable collector's item, primarily appealing to fans of Staples' broader body of work and players looking to customize their decks with unique, limited-availability artistic variants.
