Provenance

Where it came from

The Plains card, collector number 873, was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering 'Universes Beyond' set themed around Marvel Super Heroes. This set was designed to integrate iconic characters and settings from the Marvel comic book universe into the established mechanics of the Commander format, offering players a way to engage with classic superhero narratives through strategic card gameplay.

The artistic direction for this release focuses on capturing the aesthetic of traditional comic book panels, utilizing bold line work and vibrant color palettes consistent with Marvel's long-standing visual identity. By aligning the resource-providing 'Plains' card with the expansive environments found in the Marvel Multiverse, the designers aimed to create an immersive experience for both long-time Magic players and fans of the comic franchise.
