Provenance

Where it came from

The Plains card, specifically collector number 251 from the Dragons of Tarkir set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2015. This set served as the conclusion to the Khans of Tarkir block, a narrative-driven trilogy centered on a timeline-altering conflict involving dragonlords and time travel. The card functions as a basic land, providing white mana, which is a foundational component of the Magic: The Gathering gameplay engine.

The landscape art for this card was created by artist Sam Burley. The design reflects the visual identity of the Ojutai clan, characterized by dramatic, mountainous vistas and a serene yet imposing atmosphere. Like other basic lands in this set, the illustration was intended to convey the aesthetic shift of the timeline where dragons survived and reshaped the environment, emphasizing the grand scale and mystical nature of the world of Tarkir.
