Plains

The Plains card, numbered 26, was released in the 2014 Duel Decks Anthology: Divine vs. Demonic collection. This set was a compilation of four previously released Duel Decks—Elves vs. Goblins, Jace vs. Chandra, Divine vs. Demonic, and Garruk vs. Liliana—packaged together for players to revisit historical matchups. The card was included as a basic land within the Divine vs. Demonic deck, serving the functional requirements of the deck's color identity while maintaining the thematic consistency of the original 2009 release.

The artwork for this specific iteration of the Plains was designed to reflect the stark, ethereal aesthetic of the Divine deck. While Wizards of the Coast utilizes a rotating library of artists for basic lands, the design philosophy for this series focused on high-contrast landscapes that mirrored the epic conflict between celestial and infernal forces. Upon release, the Anthology set was well-received by the player base as a premium retrospective, allowing newer collectors to acquire out-of-print card designs and thematic decks that had become difficult to obtain individually.
