Provenance

Where it came from

The Forest card, designated as collector number 577, was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop Series, a specialized line by Wizards of the Coast that offers curated, thematic prints of Magic: The Gathering cards. This specific card was featured in the 'Artist Series: Johannes Voss' drop, released in 2021, which celebrated the ethereal and whimsical aesthetic that has defined Voss’s contributions to the game’s visual identity over many years.

Johannes Voss designed this land card with his signature style, emphasizing soft, painterly lighting and a sense of magical tranquility. The illustration was intended to depart from the traditional, grounded depictions of nature found in core sets, instead offering a dreamlike vision of a forest clearing. The release was well-received by collectors who prioritize artistic expression and limited-edition variants, solidifying its place as a standout piece within the broader Secret Lair catalog.
