Provenance

Where it came from

The 30th Anniversary Edition Forest was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022 to commemorate three decades of Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed as a non-tournament-legal celebration, intended to offer players and collectors a chance to experience the aesthetic and feel of the original 1993 Limited Edition Alpha cards, which have become prohibitively expensive for most collectors.

The art featured on this card is the classic Forest illustration by Jesper Myrfors, the game's original art director. Myrfors' minimalist, atmospheric approach defined the visual identity of early Magic, favoring simple, evocative landscapes that allowed the game's mechanics to take center stage. While the 30th Anniversary version retains the iconic original art, it features a distinct commemorative back and updated formatting to distinguish it from the highly valuable original printings.
