Forest

The Forest card, collector number 239, is part of the Unfinity set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. As a silver-bordered expansion, Unfinity was designed to lean into the whimsical and experimental nature of Magic: The Gathering, focusing on un-sets that prioritize fun and humor over competitive mechanical constraints. This particular card features the vibrant, retro-futuristic 'orbital space-ic' art style, which serves as a departure from the traditional fantasy landscapes usually associated with the basic lands in the game.

The design of the orbital land series was intended to evoke the aesthetic of mid-century science fiction and space exploration posters. These landscapes depict planets and moons seen from the perspective of orbit, capturing a sense of scale and cosmic wonder through stylized colors and bold, clean lines. Upon release, this specific aesthetic proved immensely popular with the player community, leading to the cards becoming sought-after additions for collectors who value unique visual representations of the game's foundational mana resources.
