Provenance

Where it came from

The 30th Anniversary Edition Forest was released in 2022 to commemorate the three-decade history of Magic: The Gathering. This limited-run product was designed to replicate the aesthetic and feel of the game's original 1993 Alpha and Beta sets, intended specifically for collectors and enthusiasts looking to celebrate the game's foundational era rather than for use in sanctioned tournament play.

The illustration featured on this card is a reproduction of the iconic Forest artwork originally created by Christopher Rush for the Alpha set. Rush, a legendary figure in the history of the game, utilized a distinct, traditional painterly style that became synonymous with the game's early visual identity. This 30th Anniversary version honors his contribution by maintaining the classic border and original art composition, serving as a nostalgic tribute to the game's inception.
