Forest

The M20 Promo Pack Forest, marked with collector number 5, was released in 2019 as part of the Core Set 2020 promotional cycle. Wizards of the Coast introduced these specialized packs to provide local game stores with materials to reward players for participation in various in-store events, signaling a shift toward emphasizing the physical community experience at hobby shops. This specific basic land features the expanded, borderless art style that has become a hallmark of premium Magic: The Gathering product lines.

The visual direction for the M20 promo lands draws from the high-fantasy aesthetic typical of the Core Set's design philosophy, prioritizing evocative, sweeping landscapes intended to showcase the game's art direction on a larger canvas. By removing the traditional text box constraints found on standard basic lands, the designers aimed to highlight the immersive world-building of the set. These cards were generally well-received by collectors who favor alternate-art variants for their aesthetic utility in deck building.
