Provenance

Where it came from

The Forest card from the Unfinity set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022, is part of a celebrated series of full-art basic lands designed to evoke the aesthetic of a retro-futuristic space carnival. This specific iteration, identified as card number 244, features the iconic 'planetary' art style, utilizing a vibrant, high-contrast color palette and bold, circular framing to immerse players in the thematic atmosphere of the Myra the Magnificent's Intergalactic Astrotorium of Fun.

The artistic direction for these lands was curated to shift away from the traditional, grounded depictions of nature found in standard Magic: The Gathering sets. By embracing a stylized, graphic-design-heavy approach, the illustrators sought to capture the wonder of a whimsical sci-fi setting. The reception within the community was largely positive, with collectors and players alike praising the unique borderless treatment for its utility in high-end deck building and its distinct departure from the game's typical fantasy aesthetic.
