Forest

The Forest card, numbered 6 in the MagicFest 2020 promotional series, was created as a special reward for attendees of the global MagicFest circuit. These events were organized by ChannelFireball to serve as centralized hubs for Magic: The Gathering competitive play and community gathering, acting as the primary successor to the professional Grand Prix tournament series. The inclusion of this specific basic land in the promotion reflects the tradition of offering unique, limited-availability artistic variants to tournament-goers to incentivize in-person participation and celebrate the game's aesthetic diversity.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Jung Park, whose work has appeared on numerous Magic: The Gathering cards. In designing this piece, Park leaned into a sweeping, atmospheric landscape style that emphasizes scale and light, moving away from the more literal interpretations of the forest biome seen in earlier iterations of the game. The card was well-received by players and collectors, as it provides a distinct, cohesive visual language consistent with the high-production values of modern Magic: The Gathering promotional sets, becoming a sought-after piece for players looking to customize their decks with uniform, premium-looking basics.
