Provenance

Where it came from

The Forest card, appearing as collector number 2442 in the Secret Lair Drop series, is part of a specialized line of Magic: The Gathering releases that highlight unique, high-end artistic interpretations of iconic game elements. These cards are typically sold as limited-window bundles directly through Wizards of the Coast, shifting away from the randomized booster pack model to provide collectors with thematic, artist-curated sets that emphasize visual storytelling over traditional play utility.

This specific iteration features artwork crafted within the idiosyncratic style of the Secret Lair series, which often collaborates with independent illustrators to redefine the aesthetic boundaries of the game. These drops are received by the community as premium collector pieces, intended to be both displayable art and functional game components, reflecting a broader trend in the hobby toward prioritizing distinct, collectible artistic aesthetics in card design.
