Plains

The Plains card from the Seventh Edition of Magic: The Gathering was released in 2001 as part of the game's first core set of the new millennium. As a basic land, it provides the essential mana resource required to cast white spells within the game's mechanics. Its inclusion in this set marked a transition period for the Wizards of the Coast design team, as they sought to standardize the visual presentation of core cards for a growing global player base.

The illustration for this specific Plains card was created by artist Rob Alexander, who has contributed extensively to the visual identity of Magic: The Gathering. Alexander utilized his signature approach to landscape painting, focusing on light, atmospheric depth, and a serene, pastoral aesthetic meant to evoke the tranquil nature of white-aligned magic. The design was well-received by the player community for its clean, classic look, fitting seamlessly into the traditional aesthetic of the game's fundamental resource cards.
