Forest

The Forest card, numbered 6, is part of the Asia Pacific Land Program, a limited-edition series of promotional basic lands released by Wizards of the Coast in 1996. Created to celebrate the growing international reach of Magic: The Gathering, the set consisted of five distinct illustrations for each of the five land types, each depicting a specific geographic location within the Asia-Pacific region. These cards were distributed primarily through organized play events and regional distributors, making them early examples of geographic-exclusive promotional content.

The artwork for this particular Forest was rendered by artist Jung Park, who captured a serene, stylized landscape evocative of the lush, mountainous terrains found throughout the region. The design philosophy of the Asia Pacific series sought to bridge the gap between traditional fantasy aesthetics and real-world cultural iconography, moving away from the generic high-fantasy landscapes common in base sets. Upon its release, the card was well-received for its artistic departure and remains a highly sought-after piece for collectors who focus on unique, location-themed promotional history.
