Forest

The Forest card, designated as collector number 155, was released as part of the Planechase Anthology boxed set in 2016. This collection was designed by Wizards of the Coast to compile the various Planechase supplemental products into a single, cohesive release, offering players an opportunity to experience the chaotic, plane-shifting gameplay mechanics that first debuted in 2009. The inclusion of basic lands within such sets is standard practice, ensuring that the decks provided remain playable for those who might not have an existing collection of resources.

The artwork for this specific Forest reflects the aesthetic transition seen in high-fantasy card illustration during the mid-2010s, prioritizing atmospheric lighting and world-building depth. As a foundational element of the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem, basic lands are often repurposed across multiple sets and supplemental products. While this specific iteration does not feature a named individual illustrator due to the nature of generic land art usage in anthology sets, it adheres to the established visual language of the game’s core plane, emphasizing the organic, untamed nature of a woodland environment.
