Forest

Forest card number 280 from the Core Set 2019 was released by Wizards of the Coast in July 2018. As a basic land, it functions as the fundamental building block of the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem, providing the green mana necessary to cast creatures and spells associated with nature and growth. The Core Set 2019 was designed to serve as an accessible entry point for new players while providing reprints and foundational cards for established enthusiasts, grounding the game in its classic elemental identities.

The art for this particular forest was created by the artist Dimitar Marinski. In his design, Marinski aimed to capture a sense of serene, ancient woodland vitality through a lush, atmospheric perspective that emphasizes the depth of the canopy. The piece was well-received by the community for its vibrant color palette and its ability to convey a sense of place, aligning with the brand's long-standing tradition of hiring diverse artistic talent to give each iteration of basic lands a distinct and evocative aesthetic.
