Plains

The Summer Magic set, colloquially known as Edgar, was produced in 1994 as a corrective print run intended to replace the flawed Revised Edition of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was commissioned by Wizards of the Coast to address numerous printing errors, such as miscolored art and incorrect card text, that had plagued the earlier release. However, the print run itself suffered from a secondary series of errors and was largely recalled and destroyed by the manufacturer, leaving only a small, undocumented quantity of cards to enter circulation through accidental distribution.

The Plains card from this set features the classic artwork by artist Christopher Rush, which was a cornerstone of the game's early visual identity. Because the set was never intended for wide public release, these cards are distinguished by their specific card stock and slight variations in print quality compared to standard Revised editions. The scarcity of these cards has since elevated them to a legendary status among collectors, serving as a rare artifact of the game's early, experimental manufacturing period.
