Forest

The Forest card, designated as collector number 380, was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Tenth Edition core set in 2007. As a core set, Tenth Edition was designed to provide a foundational pool of cards for players, serving as a comprehensive bridge between older mechanics and the modern era of the game. It marked the final core set to utilize the white-bordered aesthetic that had defined the game's entry-level products for over a decade, representing a transitional moment in the visual history of the franchise.

The artwork for this specific Forest was crafted by artist John Avon, whose landscape illustrations have been a staple of the Magic aesthetic for many years. Avon intended to capture the lush, serene, and primordial essence of a woodland environment, employing a signature use of light and color that emphasizes depth and tranquility. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the player base for its painterly quality and its adherence to the classic, iconic look of basic land cards that remains central to the game's identity.
