Forest

The Forest card, featuring the distinct illustrative style of Quinton Hoover, was released as part of the Anthologies set in 1998. This set was conceived by Wizards of the Coast as a way to bring together classic cards from the early days of Magic: The Gathering, specifically drawing from the Limited Edition Alpha through the Chronicles expansion. It served as a retrospective collection, designed to provide newer players with access to foundational cards that had become difficult to acquire on the secondary market.

Quinton Hoover was a prolific artist for the game during its formative years, known for his unique, stained-glass inspired aesthetic and vibrant use of color. His take on the Forest was created during a period when the game encouraged artists to put a highly individual stamp on the basic land types.
