Provenance

Where it came from

The Forest card, numbered 248a, originated from the 2009 Magic: The Gathering expansion set Zendikar. This set was conceptually centered around exploration and adventure, a theme reflected in the 'full-art' treatment of its basic lands. Unlike standard cards that feature a bordered text box, these lands displayed expansive, panoramic illustrations that reached the edges of the card, emphasizing the vastness of the Zendikar landscape.

The artwork for this specific Forest was created by the artist Vinod Rams, who utilized a lush, verdant aesthetic to capture the vibrant and untamed nature of the set's plane. These full-art lands were received with significant enthusiasm by the player community, becoming some of the most sought-after basic lands in the game’s history due to their immersive design and the aesthetic consistency they provided to decks.
