Forest

The Forest card, designated as collector number 347 in the Invasion expansion for Magic: The Gathering, was released by Wizards of the Coast in October 2000. As part of a set centered on a multiversal war against the Phyrexians, this basic land reflects the aesthetic shift toward more dramatic and lore-integrated landscapes characteristic of the era. The expansion focused on the struggle of Dominaria's united forces, and the art direction for the land cycle aimed to evoke the natural resilience of the plane's varied biomes.

The illustration for this specific Forest was crafted by artist Rob Alexander, a prolific contributor to the game known for his evocative, painterly style. His work on this set sought to capture a sense of deep, ancient woodland, utilizing lighting and texture to create an immersive environment. The reception of these lands was largely positive, as players appreciated the cohesive visual storytelling that tied the mechanical utility of mana production to the grand narrative stakes of the Invasion block.
