Released in 2004 as part of the Unhinged expansion for Magic: The Gathering, this card features the distinctive full-art design that became a hallmark of the set. Wizards of the Coast commissioned artist John Avon to create a cycle of basic lands that pushed the boundaries of the traditional card frame. By removing the standard text box and borders, the design allowed the expansive, painterly landscape to occupy nearly the entire face of the card, creating a highly sought-after aesthetic for players and collectors alike.

The Unhinged set was designed as a parody release, intended to explore unconventional mechanics and humorous themes that wouldn't fit into the standard game environment. While the set itself was meant for casual play, these full-art lands were immediately embraced by the broader community for their visual impact and scarcity compared to standard-issue lands. The design philosophy prioritized artistic immersion over functional clutter, setting a precedent for the 'full-art' style that has since become a recurring feature in modern trading card game expansions.
