Provenance

Where it came from

The Island card from the Magic 2015 core set serves as one of the four basic land options featured in this iteration of the long-running trading card game. Released in July 2014, the Magic 2015 set was designed to be a quintessential entry point for new players while providing strategic depth for established veterans, centered around the theme of the Planeswalker Garruk Wildspeaker and his descent into darkness.

The artwork for this specific Island was created by the illustrator Jonas De Ro, known for his atmospheric and immersive landscape compositions. His design choice for this card emphasizes a sweeping, serene vista that prioritizes environmental storytelling, aiming to evoke the tranquil and vast nature of blue-aligned mana within the game's complex mechanical ecosystem. Like other basic lands in the core set, this card was received as a standard but essential component of the base collection, appreciated for its clean aesthetic and contribution to the cohesive visual identity of the 2015 release.
