Provenance

Where it came from

The Island card, collector number 266, was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2020, which launched in July 2019. This set was designed to act as an accessible entry point for new players while providing mechanical depth for long-term enthusiasts, with the basic land cycle serving as the visual anchor for the set's aesthetic identity.

The artwork for this specific Island was created by Titus Lunter. His design emphasizes a serene, expansive seascape rendered in a high-fantasy style, intended to evoke a sense of calm and utility consistent with the blue mana color identity. Upon release, the card was widely received for its clean, modern composition, becoming a staple in standard deck construction throughout its time in the active rotation.
