Island

This Island card was released as part of the Modern Horizons 3 set in 2024, a collection specifically designed to inject powerful, nostalgic, and often complex cards into the Modern format of Magic: The Gathering. Like other basic lands in this set, it serves as a functional pillar for deck construction while showcasing the high-fantasy aesthetic that has defined the game for decades. Its inclusion in this set was intended to provide players with visually distinct options to customize their decks during a period where Wizards of the Coast was emphasizing a premium, collector-focused experience.

The artwork for this card follows the tradition of expansive, atmospheric landscape illustrations that prioritize world-building and artistic immersion. Designed as part of a curated cycle of basic lands, the piece reflects the set's broader commitment to evocative, high-quality digital painting techniques. Upon its release, these lands were noted by the community for their intricate lighting and depth, quickly becoming sought-after components for players who prioritize the aesthetic cohesion of their personal collections.
