Provenance

Where it came from

Island, card number 275 from the Magic: The Gathering Foundations set, serves as a fundamental basic land within the game's expansive ecosystem. Foundations was designed as a modern entry point for new players and a tribute to the game's long-standing traditions, intended to provide a stable, evergreen gameplay experience that bridges the gap between historical mechanics and contemporary design standards.

The aesthetic direction for this specific Island reflects the game's ongoing commitment to high-fantasy world-building, featuring immersive landscapes that define the identity of the blue mana color. The art, commissioned as part of the broader artistic suite for Foundations, emphasizes clarity and thematic cohesion to ensure the card remains functional and visually striking for both long-term enthusiasts and those encountering the game for the first time.
