Island

The Island card, numbered 1131, was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop Series, a specialized initiative by Wizards of the Coast that offers curated, thematic, and often artist-driven collections of Magic: The Gathering cards. This specific card emerged from the 'Secret Lair x Street Fighter' drop, which sought to bridge the gap between classic tabletop strategy and iconic arcade gaming culture by featuring characters and aesthetics from the Street Fighter universe adapted into the game's mechanics and visual language.

The design of this card reflects the signature visual identity of the Street Fighter series, utilizing stylized, vibrant illustrations that pay homage to the franchise's legendary character designs. By integrating the recognizable aesthetics of the source material with the functional requirements of a basic land card, the illustrators aimed to create a nostalgic yet cohesive crossover experience. Upon release, the drop was received by the player community as a distinct collectible pursuit, valued primarily for its unique artistic departure from the traditional, grounded landscapes usually found in the game's core sets.
