Where it came from
The 'Island' card, numbered 561, hails from the 1994 Star Trek Customizable Card Game (CCG) premier edition, produced by Decipher. This set was designed to immerse players in the universe of The Next Generation, leveraging the massive popularity of the series to enter the burgeoning collectible card game market of the early nineties. The card captures the intricate aesthetic established by the television show, focusing on strategic location-based gameplay that defined the series' expansion.
The card was illustrated by the in-house creative team at Decipher, who sought to maintain continuity with the visual language of the Paramount production. The design emphasized clarity and functional layout to accommodate the game's complex mechanics, which were highly regarded by fans for their mechanical depth.
