Provenance

Where it came from

The 2002 World Championship Decks were released by Wizards of the Coast as a way for players to experience the high-level strategies used by the top competitors at the Magic: The Gathering World Championship. Unlike standard booster packs, these decks were non-randomized, fixed collections that replicated the exact 75-card lists used by finalists in the tournament, providing a snapshot of the competitive metagame at that time.

This specific Island card features the 'cr335a' collector number and originates from the tournament-themed framing used for these commemorative sets. The art and layout are identical to the cards found in the Odyssey expansion, but the cards are distinguished by a gold-bordered back and the player's signature printed on the front, ensuring they remain distinct from tournament-legal cards while serving as an accessible piece of hobby history.
