Where it came from
The Island card from the Pro Tour Collector Set, bearing the collector number shr368, is part of a special commemorative release distributed by Wizards of the Coast. These sets were produced to memorialize the decks used by finalists during early Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour events, allowing players to own exact replicas of high-level competitive cards, albeit with gold-bordered backs to distinguish them from standard tournament-legal cards.
This specific iteration features the iconic landscape illustration by Christopher Rush, an artist whose work defined the visual language of the game's earliest years. By including these classic basic lands in the collector sets, the design team aimed to preserve the aesthetic continuity of the game while celebrating the competitive history that shaped the early Magic community.
