Where it came from
The Island card from the Magic 2015 core set serves as one of the fundamental basic land cards that power the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Released in July 2014, this set was designed to be accessible to new players while offering enough depth for veterans, following the tradition of core sets acting as the annual baseline for the game's mechanics and aesthetic direction.
The illustration for this specific card was crafted by Noah Bradley, a prominent artist within the Magic: The Gathering community. Bradley focused on a sweeping, cinematic landscape aesthetic that emphasizes the natural majesty of the terrain, a hallmark of his contributions to the game during this era. His work on this set was generally well-received by players for its atmospheric depth and the way it maintained the classic visual identity of blue mana sources.
